Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula or Spoon
  • Measuring Cups

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Lightly grease the inside of the slow cooker with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  • Arrange the peeled and sliced apples evenly at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Pour the melted butter over the oat mixture and stir until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 3–4 hours, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  • Scoop into bowls and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use tart apples like Granny Smith for the best sweet-tart balance. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking to maintain consistent heat and texture. Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for an extra crunch. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheated before serving.
