Ingredients
  

Cake Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chopped apples peeled if desired
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts optional

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine vegetable oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Fold in chopped apples and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • While the cake cools, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to make the glaze.
  • Once cake has cooled slightly, drizzle glaze evenly over the top. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

This Apple Dapple Cake is best enjoyed fresh, but it also keeps well covered at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can substitute pecans for walnuts or leave out the nuts entirely for a nut-free version.
