Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans Can toast for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded apples About 2 medium apples.
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cups sour cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 batch Caramel glaze Prepared separately.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour the cake pan to prevent sticking.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the granulated sugar and vegetable oil together until smooth. Add the sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans and shredded apples.
  • Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool completely in the pan.

Glazing

  • Once the cake is cool, drizzle the caramel glaze over the top.

Notes

Choose tart apples like Granny Smith for a balance of sweetness. For a richer flavor, toast the pecans before adding them to the batter.
