Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)

Ingredients

Banana Bread Syrup

  • 1 very ripe banana mashed banana (browner = more flavor)
  • milk of choice (enough to thin and flavor)
  • brown sugar (to taste, for sweetness)
  • vanilla (a drop)
  • cinnamon (a pinch)
  • nutmeg (optional, if you’re feeling it)

Latte

  • 1–2 shots espresso (or strong brewed coffee)
  • ice (for iced version)
  • whipped cream (optional topping)

Instructions

  • Mash a very ripe banana (browner is better), then combine it in a saucepan with milk, brown sugar, a drop of vanilla, cinnamon, and optional nutmeg. Heat until thick and dreamy.
  • Strain the mixture if you prefer a smooth texture.
  • Pour the hot banana-milk syrup over a shot or two of espresso (or strong brewed coffee).
  • For iced version, let cool, pour over ice and coffee.
  • Top with whipped cream or a dusting of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Experiment to find your perfect balance—tweak banana ripeness, sweetness, or spices; iced or hot, it’s comfort in a mug!
