Instructions
 

Making the Rye Bread

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine rye flour, all-purpose flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  • Gradually add warm water and stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  • Let the loaf rise again for 30 minutes. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Cool completely before slicing.
